Fire Prevention & Safety Grants

The NAHFF needs Peer Reviewers for the Fire Prevention and Safety Grants. The Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 peer reviews for the Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) Grants, and the Staffing for Adequate Fire Emergency and Response (SAFER) Grants will be held in conjunction with one another. Support from our Fire Service Partners is essential to ensure the peer review process results in awards which will have long-lasting impacts throughout the Nation.

Evaluation sessions will be held at the Center of Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, AL. The evaluation session is planned for May 14-18, 2018. The R&D evaluation session will only be two (2) days, from May 15-16, 2018.

Evaluators should plan on arriving on May 14th and returning home the afternoon of the final day of their respective evaluation periods.  The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will cover travel costs such as transportation, food and lodging.  Ground transportation will also be provided between the airport and the panel location.  Panelists will be contacted to discuss the necessary travel arrangements and reimbursement.  No salary or compensation other than travel expenses will be provided for volunteers.

The success of both the FP&S Grants and SAFER Grants depends upon volunteer peer reviewers from fire service organizations.  As in years past, we would appreciate it if you would provide the following evaluators for each program.

SAFER
We would appreciate it if you would please provide two (2) evaluators to review and score the SAFER grant applications. To the extent possible, please diversify nominations by including women and minorities.

FP&S
We would appreciate it if you would please provide two (2) evaluators to review and score the FP&S grant applications that fall under theFP&S Activity.  To the extent possible, please diversify nominations by including women and minorities.

In order to move forward with the creation of the peer review panels, please provide the following general information for each candidate evaluator:

  • Name
  • Organizational name and position or title
  • Type of Department Represented (Volunteer, Career, Combination)
  • Mailing address
